Project Overview
FarmLens is an innovative precision farming platform I co‑founded with Clinton Adoga and Stella Njambi to bring real‑time, data‑driven insights and autonomous hardware into the hands of smallholder farmers across Africa. As Chief Technology Officer, I lead the hardware design and machine learning teams to build our Agri Core hubs and six legged spider bots. These solar powered robots patrol fields around the clock, scanning soil and crop conditions and weaving biodegradable web markers to guide targeted interventions.
Our work is ongoing over the next year as we iterate on hardware durability, improve edge AI models and expand field trials. We continue to refine our sensor suite—measuring pH, salinity, moisture and pest signatures every five minutes—and enhance the LoRa and MQTT data pipeline that streams insights into our Laravel and PostGIS backend. There we fuse live climate and satellite feeds with machine learning analytics before delivering recommendations to farmers via Flutter mobile apps and a responsive React dashboard.
In parallel we develop centimeter‑resolution topography maps from LiDAR and stereo vision to optimize irrigation and drainage planning. Our precision application engine triggers micro doses of nutrients or organic pest control only where needed, reducing chemical use by forty percent and boosting yields by twenty percent on average. Throughout the year ahead we will deploy additional prototypes across diverse terrains, collect performance data and sharpen our AI inference capabilities in real world conditions.
Under my leadership we’ve built a secure, scalable architecture with continuous integration, automated firmware updates and regular penetration tests to safeguard every layer. Role based access control ensures that farmers, cooperatives and agronomists each see the tools and reports tailored to their needs. Together with Clinton’s strategic vision and Stella’s product expertise, FarmLens is set to weave a future where guesswork gives way to precision and sustainable agriculture flourishes across the continent.
